About Baht at Country partnership
Following initial ideas and offers of match funding from the local tourism marketing people, a group of us have been working behind the scenes to assess the viability and prepare to launch an exciting new tourism partnership group for Ilkley and Wharfedale.
Our area isn't readily seen as a classic "honeypot" tourist destination, yet has much to offer the visitor as a base for a great stay in Yorkshire. We believe that if those of us involved in the local hospitality and leisure sectors can come together, we can successfully promote ourselves as a great place to visit and stay! Baht 'at Country will bring the area under a single banner, complete with brand and marketing plan. The aim is to build on the image of strong local heritage, the upmarket feel of the district and a reputation for sustainable tourism renowned across Yorkshire and beyond.
We now need you to join us! It won't take much of your time and you, your business and the community stand to benefit enormously. We think that Ilkley and Wharfedale is worth taking your hat of to!
Benefits of membership
- Match funding from Bradford Council to get Baht 'at Country set-up.
- Listing on our new dedicated website: www.visitbahtatcountry.co.uk
- Information flow. Members will be better informed of what Bradford Council is doing tourism wise and be among the first to be able to take advantage of opportunities from the Yorkshire Tourist Board and VisitBritain.
- Networking opportunities to discuss current opportunities and challenges. We are planning regular informal events to meet others involved in tourism, receive updates and compare success stories.
- Cost reduction and higher profile by being represented at major exhibitions and shows through stand sharing to raise the profile of your business at shows which previously were too expensive to attend on your own.
- Brand positioning. Permission to use the partnership brand in all marketing activity. Visitors will have also seen the logo in previous communication or brochures and will have a greater awareness of what we can offer them
- Journalist visits organised by the partnership. Members are eligible to host visits to the travel trade or convention buyers at their venues or host journalists organised by the partnership
- Funding opportunities. As a group the partnership is in a much stronger position to lobby for funding, or influence the development of the district's tourism infrastructure.
- Cost reductions and increased turnover leading to benefits for businesses, traders and the community.
Who should join?
Any business or organisation which is in the hospitality, retail or leisure sectors and wanting to see a better focus for tourism locally, such as restaurants, pubs, shops, attractions etc.
Has this been tried anywhere else?
Yes! Bronte Country Partnership over in the Worth Valley has been a great success over several years. Other local partnerships are being planned for Airedale, Saltaire and Bradford City itself but we want to be ahead of the game!
Isn't this just going to benefit Ilkley?
Definitely not! Whilst Ilkley and particularly Ilkley Moor are known throughout the world, we want to encourage visitors to all parts of mid-Wharfedale including Addingham, Bolton Abbey, Burley-in-Wharfedale and Menston.
What will it cost and how do I join?
Call Tim Edwards on (01943) 433430 or Colin Clarkson on (01943) 603201 for more details. There is a £100 joining fee and £100 membership, but both are being match funded by Bradford Council to help us get going! Even if you don't have a lot of time to get involved, we still need your business or organisation to join!
